Located in the West Bottoms District of Kansas City, Missouri, in the old John Deere building, Good JuJu is a place where you will find several floors filled with a mix of antiques and vintage items. It was one of the first stores to open in this area of Kansas City, and the building had a long history before that. It is a massive, red brick square block and is certainly an eye-catcher if you are in the area. Such a huge, old building is the perfect home for an antique and vintage market.
As an antique and vintage event business, Good JuJu is only open one weekend a month. These two days, which begin on the first Friday of each month, are always a busy and lively time and are an important part of the First Friday Festival Weekends at West Bottoms. Due to the popularity of the market weekend, people often wonder why Good JuJu does not indulge its customers by opening more often. However, they are committed to one weekend a month because it gives their vendors plenty of time to prepare their upcoming wares and ensure that their stalls are fully stocked with their best antiques for the market weekend.
On their market weekends, Good JuJu opens for trading at 9am, and lines can start outside the building at any time from 8am. It is best to arrive early at this market, especially for the chance to secure a decent parking spot. There are many empty tables by the end of the market on the second night! Visitors can expect to find vintage clothing, artwork, small and large pieces of furniture, glassware, mirrors, wall hangings, china, storage chests, lighting fixtures, chandeliers, spindles, disco balls, radios, musical instruments, vinyl records, and more.
The vendors at Good JuJu have a great rapport with visitors and are always happy to help you find that perfect antique. Many of the vendors are also skilled in repurposing and upcycling antiques, so they have plenty of tips for those interested in doing the same.
