No trip to Berlin is complete without taking a stroll down Suarezstrasse and exploring all the eccentric wonders it has to offer. This mile-long flea market is brimming with Art Deco furniture, paintings, and retro trinkets, all available at unbeatable prices.
With over 30 shops offering a spectacular array of collectibles, estate sales, and vintage curiosities, Suarezstrasse - also known as Berlin's Antique Road and The Antique Mile - is known and loved by many locals. However, it remains a mystery to a large portion of the city's tourists.
The street was named after the lawyer Carl Gottlieb Suarez in July 1897. It was in the seventies that Suarezstrasse was established as a specialty street for antiques and collectibles, during the time of the "Sperrmüllaktionen" in Berlin.
Today, the street is a perfect blend of past and present - the fascinating old-fashioned buildings attract visitors from afar and embody the vibrancy of the Antiques Mile. All the shops on the street are carefully curated and believe that the most important thing is customer satisfaction!
If you're looking for antique glassware, such as vases, drinking vessels, and serving bowls, stop by Schöne alte Gläser at No. 58 for a beautiful selection from the 1750s to the 1960s. The Antique Center Suarezstrasse is located at No. 48-49, where you will discover a large showroom decorated with vintage memorabilia, artwork, and cabinets full of delicate jewelry. For European furniture and accessories from the 1950s onwards, visit DESIGN54 at nos. 54-56.
Every year on the first Saturday in September, the Suarezstrasse team organizes a feast for the eyes and senses. Up to 30,000 visitors make their way to the Antique Mile for a special street festival, where they can shop for retro goodies at outdoor stalls, enjoy live music, and witness unexpected surprises. For a complete list of vendors and their hours of operation, visit the Suarez Street website.
