La Fête des Puces de Saint-Ouen

Thursday, October 4, 2029 @ 10:00 - Monday, October 8, 2029 @ 18:00 CEST

Every October, a historic site in Paris comes alive with a vibrant celebration that resonates with the echoes of bygone eras. La Fête des Puces, held at the Marché aux Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen, is more than just an international event – it’s a bridge to history, an ode to art, and a rendezvous for antique enthusiasts from around the world.

Founded in 1885, the Marché aux Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen has an illustrious past. Initially, rag pickers set up camp outside the capital, specifically on the Plaine de Malassis in Saint-Ouen. Over time, merchants began to display their wares every Sunday, transforming the place into a bustling market. By the 1920s, business magnates had acquired land here, paving the way for iconic markets such as the Vernaison, Malik, Mallasis, Biron and Jules-Vallés markets.

Now, during the Fête des Puces, these very markets – Vernaison, Marché Biron, Paul Bert and Serpette, Marché Dauphine, Marché Malassis and Puces de Saint-Ouen – reveal their many treasures and invite visitors to experience the magic of their alleyways.

Each year, a new theme takes center stage. As you stroll through the seven hectares of the largest antique market in the world, you’ll be greeted by a mix of art, decoration and history. The interpretations of each year’s theme, complete with enchanting decorations and entertainment, will leave visitors spellbound.

But the real festivities begin on Thursday evening. As dusk falls over the city, the markets light up with entertainment, tantalizing culinary delights, parades and melodious concerts. Each market, with its own unique charm, hosts a series of events that culminate in a night to remember. It’s important to note, however, that the Puces nocturne, which begins at 7 p.m., is an exclusive event, accessible only through invitations available on the markets’ websites.

For five exciting days, visitors will be transported back in time, soaking up the atmosphere of the historic site, interacting with dealers and fellow art lovers, and perhaps discovering a rare antique gem. When they leave, they’ll have bags full of remarkable finds, hearts full of memories, and eyes reflecting the beauty they’ve seen.
