Eygalières is a small quiet village in the Alpilles that is worth a visit. Located 5 minutes from Saint Rémy de Provence, the village faces vast fields of olive trees, green valleys, and vineyards. Here and there, piercing in this scenery worthy of the most beautiful postcards of Provence, beautiful properties with superb mas restored with taste. For lovers of Provençal markets and flea markets, Eygalières is also a meeting place not to be missed.
Since 2017, the association "La Banaste", in partnership with the town hall of Eygalières and various local associations, organizes a monthly professional flea market ensuring a stable economic activity throughout the year to the village. The objective of the association is that the Brocante d’Eygalières quickly becomes a renowned and appreciated event for antique lovers in France and elsewhere, following the example of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon or L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in the neighboring Vaucluse. To achieve that, the association "La Banaste" has secured the collaboration of Alain Catan, a renowned craftsman and the organizer of the weekly brocante de Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, so that the flea market in Eygalières becomes a recognized antique market. The Brocante d’Eygalières is restricted to professional exhibitors and gathers every last Sunday of the month 35 to 45 sellers who enliven the village center from 7 am to 7 pm. One can find all sorts of antique objects, such as 18th-century and 19th-century furniture, antique paintings, tableware, silverware, French Provincial, baskets, bright and colorful Provençal fabrics, antique garden furniture, stone sculptures, ceramics, blown glass bottles, and everything else in between that can be found in the best flea markets in Provence.
In addition to its monthly flea market, the association "La Banaste" occasionally organizes a "Belle Brocante des Alpilles" which brings together more than sixty professional exhibitors spread throughout the village center. On this occasion, the village of Eygalières becomes entirely pedestrian. The vast parking lots of the multipurpose hall allow to welcome a large public in the immediate vicinity of the exhibitors, and the shopkeepers of Eygalières propose various animations and tastings which make this day a great festival. The gourmets will find in Eygalières nice bars and restaurants. And if you want to blend into a postcard setting, beautiful walks are to be made, especially to go and meet the famous Saint-Sixte Chapel, surrounded by its cypresses.
