Since 1995, the Cannery Row Antique Mall has been welcoming collectors and admirers of vintage and antique items in Monterey, USA. However, the building itself has been present on this street for far longer. This warehouse is one of the few remaining authentic and unchanged Cannery Row structures from the Steinbeck era. From 1927 until the end of sardine fishing in Monterey, it served to house canning supplies and finished products on two floors. Thanks to the owners of the antique mall, the building has been granted Historial Structure status. What better building to house antiques and other remnants of the past?
The Cannery Row Antique Mall has won its fair share of accolades since the 90s. It won Antique Mall of the Year in 1996. It has been voted Monterey County Weekly’s Best Antique Business of the year five times over the years, and Best Antique business by the Carmel Pine Cone. With this recognition of the quality of the goods within, it is easy to see why customers come from near and far to check out the antiques on sale.
Within the 21,000 square meters of space at the Cannery Row Antique Mall, more than 100 different vendors trade their wares. The shop is spread over two floors and grants a wonderful view of the ocean from its windows. As well as the awesome view, shoppers can enjoy chandeliers and lighting fixtures, stained glass, paintings and artwork, furniture, doors, glassware, cabinets, vintage chairs, vases, chinaware, curios, globes, maps, and more.
Each month, the Cannery Row Antique Mall creates a different theme for its main window display. The theme always reflects either a season or an event being held. Of course, all the display items are also up for sale, so these creative displays are the perfect way to entice passers-by into the store. It also highlights the wide range of antiques available within the mall. There is certainly something for everyone here.
