The Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association Flea Market takes place every Sunday throughout the year. This is a traditional flea market, where everyone in the community is encouraged to take part either by setting up a table and hawking their wares or visiting and bargaining for the goods on sale. It is very well supported and there is always a jovial atmosphere surrounding the area where more than 140 stalls are set up.
As well as this fantastic flea market, Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association also holds an antique and vintage market. This takes place four times a year on a Saturday, so as not to clash with the long-standing flea market. As expected, the vendors that take part in these events are highly invested in antiques and collectibles themselves and more than 200 usually set up stalls to take part in these markets. They tend to get a little busier each time they roll around and there is a great support in this community for such gatherings.
Vendors get a couple of hours before the official opening of the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association Flea Market to set up, and the keenest collectors can sometimes be found browsing around as tables are erected and goods arranged for sale. This market has an early start, but there is no need to be awake before the birds to get a good deal here. With so many vendors and so many unique items on offer, there is always something to tempt shoppers no matter the time of day. It also rolls around every week of course so it is a regular shopping trip for many locals in the area.
The goods for sale at Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association Flea Market run the gambit of typical flea market fare, alongside many collectible and rarer items. The real treasures are found at the specialist antique and vintage markets held each quarter, so serious collectors may want to wait for these dates to treat themselves.
