Who could resist a tag line that promises, “All Things Chippy, Rusty, Vintage and Handmade?” Coley Arnold and Lindsey Holt started their vintage flea-market style events in a friend’s back yard in in 2011 with items they had stored in their garage.
Since then, the crafty duo has seen a swift uptick in attendance. In 2012 they welcomed 5,000 people and in 2015 the word has spread to more than 35,000 shoppers. Wanting to capitalize on the momentum, the pair expanded with a Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market in San Diego, California in July of 2016 and have promised to return with another equally engaging event in 2017.
Boasting relationships with more than 200 vendors, Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market usually host their signature market at the 386 acre, 13,000 square foot WestWorld in the City of Scottsdale, Arizona.
The market has grown substantially from the duo’s first backyard sale and has blossomed to three entire days, including the market’s new feature, a “shopping experience” on Friday night. This gives shoppers first dibs on all of the great things vendors have been curating just for this market. One vendor, Greg Hawk of @Hawksalvage traveled 6458 miles cross-country throughout the US to find unique vintage salvage and special industrial “picks” for this weekend’s coming event. The entire weekend is usually great, but Friday’s atmosphere is truly unique. If there could be a date-night for “junkers”, this could be it.
Friday night 5PM-9PM $65 gets you in the door and a free alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink in your hand. The website promotes free giveaways and incentives to those willing to take the plunge on a Friday night, including a unique canvas bag as part of the entry fee, and the ability to use your Friday night ticket to re-enter on Saturday and Sunday, including the “early entry” on Saturday - yet another unique feature to the market where shoppers can start as early as 8AM for $25. Saturday and Sunday general admission hours are 9AM to 4PM and tickets are $8 at the gate.
Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market feature both indoor and outdoor booths and usually takes place in Scottsdale, Arizona. All tickets can be purchased at the gate.
