La Récupérette describes itself as an associative recycling center whose purpose is to create social links, based on a recycling activity. And the least we can say is that flea market enthusiasts in France love what this place has to offer.

The purpose of La Récupérette is to create social ties among those in the community who are passionate about recycling, reusing, and repurposing. It sorts of acts like a central point for a community yard sale, as people bring all sorts of items and curios that they no longer need, and the staff and volunteers here arrange the goods for sale. It provides everything you would want from a visit to a flea market; unique items, good prices, friendly faces, and the chance to rummage for what you want!

La Récupérette is very much a community-focused project through and through. It creates a wonderful flea market with the aim of waste reduction. The store initiates social and professional integration paths and gives employment and a social structure to those who truly need it. La Récupérette also provides a space for meetings and exchanges between different audiences and generations, while promoting and supporting artistic creation and the development of cultural events. Every town could do with a store like this one!

The actual shop of La Récupérette looks like a mixture of a small warehouse and a community center. Outdoor space is utilized as much as indoors, for both displays of the items for sale and for work. It is not rare to see staff and volunteers working on small repairs or upcycling projects while you shop here. When browsing here, it is possible to find crockery and cookware, clothing in great condition, toys, childcare equipment, books, CDs, vinyl records, furniture, DIY, and gardening tools. The shop is only open for both shopping and for dropping off contributions at certain and limited times, so check with their social media to find out when you can visit. It is also a good idea to follow them to see what events they may be running at any given time.

"Reserving flights 8 to 9 months in advance helps me manage my airfare expenses. Even in the best of times, many of the markets I follow in France don't publish their plans that far in advance. Fleamapket provides the newest information, well before I can find it online."
Nicolas Martin
