The creators of this market were Dorthy “Dot” and Calvin Buchanan and this couple had an amazing knowledge of antiques. They spent many fun years traveling to antique shows throughout the country before starting a show of their own. Their grandson took over the market in 1995 and continues the passion and enthusiasm for both antique items and putting on a fantastic flea market.
The OKC Flea Market takes place at the Oklahoma City fairgrounds, inside the Bennett Event Center. This huge warehouse hosts many events throughout the year and is an outstanding indoor venue for this popular flea market. All of the vendors are incredibly well organized throughout the space. Each is allocated a clear spot and displays their wares in such a way that no rummaging is required. There are always some new vendors to meet at this flea and others that have been around for many years.
With so many vendors, there is obviously a huge amount of goods with a great variety to browse through at the OKC Flea Market. It is easy to spend a few hours here, as so many of the items will lead you on a trip down memory lane and tempt you to start reminiscing with both the vendors and other shoppers enjoy the flea! Visitors can expect to find artwork, jewelry, books, furniture, clocks, vintage lunch boxes, cowboy boots, toys, sporting memorabilia, comics, glassware, ornaments, bicycles, and Americana, to name just a few!
As well as the fantastic stands full of antiques and vintage items, the OKC Flea Market also has a lovely selection of local handicrafts for sale. Of course, no large flea would be complete without a few food stands too. Whether these are baked goods to bring home or refreshments for hungry shoppers, this flea has it all!
