Few antique malls in the Tri-Cities area can claim a building with as much history as the Johnson City store. The Village Antique and Home Decor Mall occupies the old Hill's Department Store in a Kroger-anchored shopping center, giving it a wide, single-level floor plan that holds more than 200 booths. The space is climate-controlled and the parking is easy, which matters when you plan to stay a while.
What fills those booths is genuinely varied. Furniture anchors the larger sections, but a slow walk turns up vintage toys, clocks, advertising signs, artwork, handbags, tools, chinaware and collectibles that resist neat categorisation. Johnson City rewards the kind of unhurried browsing where the best finds appear sideways, on a shelf you almost walked past.
The Bristol location, anchored at 1375 Volunteer Parkway, runs to around 150 booths and has a slightly different character. Vendors here blend traditional antiques and collectibles with newer home décor and clothing, and the presentation tends to be tidier. Shoppers who prefer a curated edit over an overwhelming sprawl often find Bristol the easier starting point. The Elizabethton store is the most compact of the three, with over 100 booths on one level. Its smaller footprint makes it quicker to cover, but the booth density still gives slow walkers plenty to turn up.
Across all three stores, the vendor roster skews independent and local. Prices vary noticeably booth to booth, and bargaining is worth attempting — particularly on large furniture pieces or stock that has clearly been sitting a while. The overall atmosphere is accessible rather than precious. Vendors tend to be approachable, and the range of price points removes any pressure to spend at a particular level.
All three locations open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00. On Sundays, hours run from 13:00 to 18:00. Visitors planning a multi-stop day in the Tri-Cities region can reasonably fit two locations into a single afternoon, especially if the Sunday start time at one is used as an entry point before driving on.
The Bristol store is the most practical to reach without a car. The Southside bus line stops at Bluff City Hwy & Locust Rd, approximately 370 metres from the Volunteer Parkway address. A second stop, Food City on Volunteer Pkwy, sits roughly 390 metres away and also serves the Southside route. Both are close enough to make a bus trip workable for local visitors.
The Village Antique and Home Decor Mall suits collectors who want depth without the pressure of a high-end dealer, and newer browsers who need room to learn what they like. With three locations spread across East Tennessee, it functions less like a single destination and more like a regional network — one worth mapping before you drive.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many booths are at each location, and which one suits a first-time visitor?
A: Johnson City is the largest, with more than 200 booths in the former Hill's Department Store building — best for deep browsing. Bristol runs around 150 booths with a tidier, more curated feel, which makes it the easier entry point for newcomers. Elizabethton is the most compact at over 100 booths and quickest to cover in a single visit.
Q: What are the opening hours across all three stores?
A: All three locations are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Sundays from 13:00 to 18:00. The later Sunday start is worth factoring in if you're planning a multi-stop day across the Tri-Cities.
Q: Is bargaining accepted, and where is it most likely to pay off?
A: Bargaining is worth attempting, particularly on large furniture pieces or stock that has clearly been sitting a while. Because vendors are independent and local, pricing varies noticeably from booth to booth, so there is genuine room to negotiate rather than a fixed house policy to navigate.
Q: Can I reach the Bristol store without a car?
A: The Bristol store at 1375 Volunteer Parkway is served by the Southside bus line. Two stops — Bluff City Hwy & Locust Rd and Food City on Volunteer Pkwy — sit roughly 370–390 metres from the entrance, making a bus trip workable for local visitors. The Johnson City and Elizabethton stores are primarily car-friendly destinations.

2nd June 2018 at 18:10Huge, so much to look at and super friendly staff. Lots of good vendors. Items ranging from antique and vintage to crafty with negotiable prices. You will definitely spend more than a couple of hours here looking. Well worth it. Will definitely be back.

3rd June 2018 at 03:36This flea market was like going to a pet store… I have never seen so many dogs in one store… not even Pet Smart. You could not move around for all the people with strollers carrying dogs… They need sign for the people who do not want to be around animals. We have gone there for years but will not be back.

3rd June 2018 at 09:00This place is huge with tons of great items! I’ve been here 3 or 4 times and still have not covered every area, as it goes on and on forever it seems. They have shopping carts available, you need them because there is so much to cover. This is a very clean place and has very friendly staff.
