Nestled in the heart of the Anderlecht community in Brussels, the Brocante Westland d'Anderlecht is not just a flea market, it's an institution. With over 27 years of experience, this market is a testament to the timeless appeal of antiques and vintage finds.
Walking through the aisles of the Brocante Westland d'Anderlecht is like taking a trip back in time. The rhythmic buzz of visitors bargaining, the soft hum of conversations about prized possessions, and the eclectic array of items that seem to whisper tales of bygone eras make it a truly enchanting experience.
From the ornate intricacies of vintage furniture to the quaint charm of decorative objects, the market boasts a vast collection ranging from clothing and jewelry to crockery, knick-knack, and car spare parts. You might stumble upon an antique lamp that once graced a Victorian parlor or a piece of crockery that brings back your grandmother's stories. But it's not all about the old; there are used appliances that have stood the test of time and rare collectibles with a story just waiting to be discovered.
It's not uncommon for 350 to 400 second-hand dealers to set up their stalls each week, eagerly awaiting the crowds of 10,000 visitors. And these dealers are not just sellers; they are also passionate curators and historians. Every item they display is a piece of history, and they are more than willing to immerse you in its backstory.
One of the outstanding features of Brocante Westland d'Anderlecht is its resilience. Come rain, wind or the harshest snow, the market remains unfazed. This enduring spirit resonates with the loyal merchants who, undeterred by the elements, display their wares with the same enthusiasm week after week. For those who find the cold a deterrent, the market offers a cozy refuge. Part of it is covered, shielding visitors from the vagaries of the weather. And for those in need of a warm reprieve, there's a snack bar serving delicacies ranging from hot drinks to combat the chill to chilled refreshments for the sunnier days.
As an integral part of the Anderlecht community, the market has cemented its place in the hearts of the locals. But its appeal is not limited to Brussels. Tourists, drawn by tales of its treasures, frequent the market, each leaving with a piece of history. Whether it's the seasoned collector, the occasional antiquarian or someone looking for a unique decorative piece, the Brocante Westland d'Anderlecht promises a find for every seeker.

4th November 2015 at 10:25A little messy, and rainy when we went there, but we found lovely little things at very good prices! You just need to be curious and patient. All in all, some pretty good bargains to find.
