Things Your Mother Throw (TYMT) is a creative collaboration between Studio Shermano and Envelope Architects, an architectural practice specialising in bespoke designs for homes and apartments in Singapore. TYMT is a creative and research laboratory that strives to adapt and upcycle past designs and styles into contemporary interiors.
The name Things Your Mother Throw was inspired by its founder as "a tribute to all the mothers who throw things to keep the house in order, and all the fathers who keep things so we can play hide-and-seek in the house. And to Singlish grammar, of course!"
Drawing on British and Dutch furniture design during the colonial period in the Nusantara region and influences from the indigenous and migrant communities in the Southeast Asian region, Things Your Mother Throw aims to distil through its furniture a sense of what it was like to live in the tranquil colonial era and the tumultuous post-war mid-20th century in Southeast Asia. TYMT aims to build a bridge between the past and the present through the humble, restored vintage pieces used by ordinary people who lived in those times.
Things Your Mother Throw has a fabulous collection of salvaged vintage and antique furniture, colourful handmade ceramic tiles and bespoke services.
