The Antique and Art Exchange in San Francisco, California is a business born out of a lifelong love of antiques. One of the owners began his interest in collecting at the tender age of 4! So this store is truly the culmination of a life spent admiring vintage and antique items and perfecting the art of collecting. It is now a family project and oozes with the kind of joy that comes from turning a lifelong beloved hobby into a successful way to make a living.
In 1995, the Antique and Art Exchange was created to replace a defunct antique store. Thus, the tradition of this address as a place to admire antiques continued! Thanks to the quality of the antiques found in this store since its inception, it was mentioned with high praise in such publications as the San Francisco Chronicle and Town and County. This only added to the store's popularity and success. It has since cemented its place on the map of excellent stores to find unique and wonderful antique and vintage items.
Today, the Antique and Art Exchange's clientele includes heads of state, politicians, writers, artists, royalty, celebrities, dealers and, of course, designers. These customers flock to the sprawling, dog-friendly showroom in the Design District to shop for antiques, modern pieces and everything in between. On a typical day, visitors can expect to find tables, artwork, cabinets, chairs, decorative pottery, lamps, china, chandeliers, mirrors, and more. Pieces are sourced from all over the world and from a variety of time periods.
The main showroom of the Antique and Art Exchange is spread over 6000 square feet. Walking through it feels like a cross between exploring a vast old estate of aristocratic heritage and visiting a stunning museum. The collections are intuitively arranged and everything is clearly displayed. There is no need to rifle through the store or worry that you might have missed the best treasures buried somewhere!
