This monthly vintage flea market is a firm favourite with locals and visitors. Grayslake Illinois Antique & Vintage Market opens on the second Sunday of the month and the preceding Saturday. Spend your day sieving through a wondrous variety of antiques, estate jewellery, collectibles, movie memorabilia, mid century modern furniture, lighting, country furniture, advertising and old coins.
This market takes places indoors, however when the sun comes out to play, extra vendor tables are also set up outside. During the summer this market almost doubles in size, that is when all the sellers come out of hiding and showcase their antiques and retro goodies. Most vendors are willing to negotiate on prices with you, so don’t be a pushover – offer an alternative price to the one that is advertised!
There is a fantastic array of snacks on offer, such as fresh butter and chocolate croissants, baguettes and cream cakes. While the entrance fee is a little pricey ($7), we certainly think it is worth it. Simply think of it as if you were paying to get into a museum or art gallery – which is essentially what this place is! Spend your afternoon looking at and admiring historical and cultural souvenirs whilst chatting with the vendors about their significance.
Overall, Grayslake Illinois Antique & Vintage Market is the perfect place to source retro collectibles, knick knacks and fine trinkets. You definitely won’t find unwanted junk at this market, the items for sale are all high-quality and sold at a fair price.
Antiquing Tip Of The Day
There’s no perfect recipe for incorporating vintage items with new decor. Try not to go overboard with flea-market finds. Mixing and matching decor from different eras needs to be carefully curated and can be a slow process, so patience is key.
