Halesworth is a small, English town close to the coast that prides itself on offering a traditional shopping experience. It is centered around the Thoroughfare, a pedestrianized area where many buildings date back to the sixteenth century, and it is in this area that once a year the Halesworth Antiques Street Market comes to life. The backdrop could not be more perfect, and Halesworth embraces the beauty of the setting to celebrate all things antique and collectible once a year.
Started back in 1992, the Halesworth Antiques Street Market is a veritable goldmine of collectables, and a bustling antique street fair that attracts the trade and public alike. The main event of the market is set up around the historic Thoroughfare, with some stalls also located inside the Old Print Works.
The majority of this market is an outdoor affair, which, even though it takes place in the height of summer, does not really mean anything for English weather! It is best to bring an umbrella just in case. Due to the expansion of the market in recent years, stalls can also now be found in the main Market Place of Halesworth too.
With over 110 vendors attending the event each year, the Halesworth Antiques Street Market offers a wide range of items for sales, and attracts crowds of antiques enthusiasts and flea market lovers year on year. There is surely something to suit all tastes, and prices vary nicely so there is plenty worth looking at for all budgets. Expect to find everything from china, jewelery, glassware, vintage clothing, toys, small and large pieces of furniture, vintage tools, stamps and too many other random items to mention.
There is a strong sense of community behind the Halesworth Antiques Street Market, and there has always been a charitable component to this event. Thanks to the nominated charitable beneficiary, East Anglian Air Ambulance, the event is widely publicized throughout the region and always well supported.
