In addition to being a rural escape from nearby New York City, the Hudson River Valley also has another major offering: some of the best antiquing in the northeast. A great number of wonderful antique and vintage stores are found in the city center of Hudson itself. It has become known as the antiquing Mecca of the state. So many of the stores are simply lined up, almost one after the other, on the main high street through the city, which makes it so easy to enjoy a day meandering from store to store, hunting for antique treasures.
Though the high street of Hudson has a wealth of stores, it is worth moving a few blocks along 3rd Street to explore the cluster of antique shops found here. One of which is The Antique Warehouse, a massive store with passionate and experienced owners, bringing wonderful, unique antiques from the USA and further afield for collectors to shop for. This store is located within an even larger warehouse and other lovely, smaller vintage shops share this space, such as the Riverfront Antiques and Design Center, and Mark's Antiques. The whole, awesome shopping complex can easily take up a day to fully explore and enjoy.
Back in the center of Hudson, the Combray Gallery is a great place to start exploring the antiques on offer. This store specializes in furniture items large and small. They also offer works by selected contemporary artists as well as chosen traditional landscapes and animal paintings. Another worthy stop for furnishings is FINCH Hudson. They offer a curated collection of vintage and modern goods for the home, including furniture, art, and plenty of unique objects. ANTIGO is a small antique mall of sorts, with 10 independent dealers trading under one roof.
This selection is just a handful of the many incredible antique stores in Hudson. It is certainly an area worth fully exploring and it is easy to see why it has garnered the reputation that it has among collectors and appreciators of antiques.
