As one of the fastest growing cities in the southeastern United States, Huntsville, Alabama can be described as unexpected. Huntsville seamlessly blends a rich history of Southern hospitality with innovative high-tech businesses and cultural diversity. The history of the area is reflected in the number of antique shops in the city. Antique shops, malls and markets are scattered throughout the city, making it the perfect destination for antique enthusiasts and collectors of all things historical.
If the multi-vendor, massive antique malls are where you get your thrills, Huntsville will definitely keep you entertained! Railroad Station Antiques spans three floors and fills more than 25,000 square feet with fantastic finds. With a mix of used junk and quality antiques, this mall has something for every budget. Firehouse Antiques and Collectables is the largest antique mall in Hunstville, with more than 40,000 square feet of vintage merchandise. Just down the road is Packard's Antiques, another mall that is not quite as large as the others, but has more than enough antiques that are regularly updated by the many vendors that trade inside.
In the heart of downtown Huntsville, collectors will be pleased to find Rivernbark and Roper Antiques. This smaller store specializes in more upscale items and tends to focus on smaller collectibles such as beautiful jewelry and works of art. Another store that favors high quality and authentic antiques is Hartlex Antique Gallery. Not much in this store is less than 100 years old and it is a real treat to walk through the entrance here and be surrounded by such historic items. Walking through this antique shop is like walking through a museum. If you are lucky, the owners may even offer you refreshments while you admire their wares.
With so many different antique shops and malls, Huntsville is the perfect city for a weekend getaway to hunt for rare antiques and collectibles. Antiques can be found around every corner. The only tricky part is choosing which unique treasures to take home.
