Historic downtown Huntsville, Texas is known for its abundance of antique and boutique shops. It is a wonderful shopping destination with many unique treasures to discover and bring home. Of course, there are also plenty of restaurants and coffee shops, so you can always recharge your shopping batteries. Located just 70 miles north of Houston, it is easy to plan a day trip here to enjoy the shopping while taking a longer break from the big city.
Although many of the vintage and antique stores are clustered in downtown Huntsville, it is worth taking a short trip out of town to find a few gems. Uptown Vintage in the Avenues is also an outlier from the main cluster of stores, but still centrally located. The storefront looks more like someone's home, with furniture spilling out onto the sidewalk. Such a display of goods invites passersby to stop and take a closer look!
In the middle of Huntsville's main shopping area is the Sam Houston Antique Mall. With amazing antiques and collectibles spread over four floors, this incredible mall will take some time to fully explore. The staff here is so friendly and helpful that the day will fly by as you soak up the nostalgic atmosphere. Not too far away is the Bluebonnet Square Antique Mall, another large store with an abundance of antiques. If you need help finding something, the staff seems to know where everything is!
It is a real treat to find so many quality vintage and antique stores in Huntsville all on the same block. Most of them are also open every day, so whenever you happen to be in Huntsville, you can always stop by some of the incredible antique stores.
Depending on the time of year you visit, the Huntsville Antique Show is definitely worth a visit. This antique show is usually held in early fall, and since it only happens once a year, it is always highly anticipated by local collectors! The Huntsville Antique Show welcomes 65 quality dealers from all over the U.S., offering a wide variety of antiques to suit every budget and taste. This event is usually held in the air-conditioned comfort of the Walker County Fairgrounds, just three miles west of Huntsville on Highway 30 (I-45 Exit 116). From furniture and fine estate jewelry to glassware, silverware, linens, baccarat, lalique, kitchen collectibles, books, postcards, primitives, art, the Huntsville Antiques Show has something for everyone.
