Ipswich Antique Centre is a major retailer of antiques and collectibles in the greater Brisbane and South East Queensland areas of Australia. The store is located in an air-conditioned, restored 1895 Heritage Listed building. It is the perfect historic location for the treasures from the past for sale within. Converting this building for use as an antique store has certainly been a labor of love for the owners.
Many original features within the Ipswich Antique Center have been uncovered and brought back to life and use, and the care taken in this endeavor speaks to the passion for all things antique that drives the success of this store. The owners have been in the business of buying and selling antiques for many decades, and it looks like they will be for many more!
In 2010, the Ipswich Antique Center officially opened its doors to the community and was warmly welcomed. It seems that both the preservation of the historic building and the opportunity to shop for quality antiques were important factors to the locals! The counter area of the center contains a number of museum quality pieces of furniture that are the subject of constant inquiries. These include a large old cedar haberdashery counter that originally housed the Mawson Geological specimens, and a large shipping clerk's desk made by the Derby Desk Company of the USA in the late 19th century.
The Ipswich Antique Center is home to several dealers who sell their wares. They display one of the widest ranges of antiques and collectibles available outside of Brisbane. Items that can be found here include Australian, country and English furniture, beds, Australian pottery, jewelry, vintage clothing, movie memorabilia plus a special retro room and much more. Ipswich has a number of other antique and collectibles shops and is a must visit for anyone with an interest in antiques, collectibles or heritage buildings.
