Jacob's Antique Center is one of the oldest antique shops in Wales, UK. Established in 1982, it has been one of the must-visit places in the city of Cardiff for decades. The 4-story red brick building that houses the market on West Canal Wharf by the train station is both striking and inviting. Antiques take up 3 of the floors, and the top floor houses a contemporary art gallery and a roof terrace with stunning views of the Cardiff skyline. It is easy to see why tourists and locals alike are drawn to this building and spend hours browsing this fantastic antique market.
More than 50 different antique dealers trade from Jacob's Antique Center. It has become quite famous for the stuffed badgers guarding the entrance doors and the life-size Tardis found upstairs in the sci-fi booth. Whether these items are actually for sale, or if they will ever find a new home, is anyone's guess! In a way, it would be a shame, as people have come to expect to see them when they visit this market. In addition to these strange but wonderful items, there are a number of other unique and enticing curios, antique furniture, comic books, toys, clothing, books, jewelry, and much more.
In addition to great antiques and curios, Jacob's Antique Center also has a small but excellent cafe on the first floor. Refreshments are dirt cheap and hungry shoppers are guaranteed a plate of freshly prepared food to recharge their batteries and admire their purchases. All in all, this indoor antique market is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with friends, indulge in a little nostalgia while browsing the various stalls, and pick up a conversation starter or two to brighten up the home. It may take a bit of digging through Jacob's Antique Center to find the real bargains, but there is always treasure to be found, no matter how regularly you visit.
