Jacob’s Antique Center is one of the oldest antique emporiums in Wales, UK. It was established in 1982 and has been one of the must-visit locations in the city of Cardiff for decades. The 4-floor, red-brick building that houses the market at West Canal Wharf by the station is both eye-catching and inviting. Antiques take over 3 of the floors within and the very top floor boasts a contemporary art gallery and a roof terrace offering superb views over the Cardiff skyline. It is easy to see why both tourists and locals are drawn to this building and spend hours browsing this fantastic antiques market.
More than 50 different antique dealers trade from Jacob’s Antique Center. It has become rather well known for the stuffed badgers that guard the entrance doors and the life-sized Tardis found upstairs on the sci-fi stall. Whether these items are actually for sale, or if they are whether they will ever find a new home, is anyone’s guess! In a way, it would be a shame, as people have come to expect to see them on visiting this market. Alongside these weird but wonderful items are a number of other unique and enticing curios, antique furnishing, comics, toys, clothing, books, jewelry, and a whole lot more.
As well as awesome antiques and curios, Jacob’s Antique Center also has a small but excellent cafe on the first floor. Refreshments are dirt cheap and hungry shoppers are guaranteed a plateful of freshly made food to recharge their batteries and admire their purchases. All in all, this indoor antique market is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with friends, indulge in a little nostalgia while browsing the different stalls, and pick up a conversation starter or two to brighten up the home. It can take a bit of searching through Jacob’s Antique Center to find the real bargains, but there is always treasure to uncover here, no matter how regularly you stop by.
