The Lafayette Mill Antiques Center makes its presence known on the side of the main road in Lafayette, New Jersey. It is a long, red painted wooden building with "The Mill" written in large white letters on the side facing the road. This is sure to pique the curiosity of anyone passing by and make them want to stop and see what is inside! The building is an old barn and the owners have retained many of the original features inside, making it the perfect place to house so many wonderful, historic antiques.
There are about 50 different vendors selling their antiques at the Lafayette Mill Antiques Center and they are spread out over three large floors in this old barn. Unlike many antique malls, each vendor has their own clearly marked area and most even have their own cash registers for payment. As a result, you can usually talk to the dealers themselves about their antiques and find out all you want to know about the items and their backstories.
When shopping at Lafayette Mill Antiques Center, it feels like the selection of antiques goes on forever! This is not a place where you can just pop in and pick something up; you will want to spend at least an hour or two looking around, as each dealer's wares are as fascinating as the next. All the displays are incredibly clean, well organized and well lit. Prices are on the high side, but this reflects the quality of the antiques and vintage items found here. Shoppers can expect to find sports memorabilia, lanterns, clown dolls, ornaments, artwork, lighting, wickerwork, furniture, signs, storage cabinets, stuffed animals, cameras, collectible toys, tools, and much more.
On the last Sunday of each month, the Lafayette Mill Antiques Center hosts an antique flea market. Booths are set up around the antique mall and vendors bring their wares outside. If you are planning a trip here, be sure to coincide with one of these antique markets.
