Just a stone's throw from the rue des Trois Cailloux in Amiens, France, Le Grenier is a treasure trove that's a little different: A hiding place open to all, where everyone is invited to find that little something extra that will look so good in their home.
Le Grenier is a fusion of many concepts: flea market and thrift store, shop and cafe, brick-and-mortar store and online marketplace. The owner is passionate about repurposing items and giving them a little TLC to extend their life and find them a new home. One of the mandates of this store is to fight against the current throwaway culture and their website asks the question: "Why buy new? It is neither useful nor ethical". When you shop at Le Grenier, you are guaranteed to find items that are unique, high quality and affordable.
Another goal of Le Grenier is to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is felt by all who enter the store. The idea is that it should not just be a store, but a place where people enjoy spending time with family and friends. To this end, the inclusion of a café within the store was a logical and excellent idea! Shoppers can relax and enjoy refreshments while discussing which of the many treasures they have discovered to take home. A cafe-brocante is a wonderful creation and is one of the reasons people keep coming back to shop at this lovely store.
The interior of Le Grenier resembles a cozy living room filled with vintage and antique items to admire. Shelves along the walls are filled with vintage books, advertising cards, decorative tins, kitchen utensils and other curiosities. Pieces of furniture are scattered throughout the room, all for sale, including shelving units, cabinets of all sizes, chests of drawers, and more. Every space and surface is used to display more goods, and throughout the room you will find maps, glassware, photographs, artwork, mirrors, typewriters, tables and chairs, and more. It is the kind of space that invites you to explore further.
Like a regular flea market, Le Grenier's opening hours are sporadic. Visitors can only enjoy this store twice a week, and on one of those days it is only open for a few hours. So it may not be possible to drop in on the spur of the moment, so make a note of the hours and plan your trip accordingly.
