The New York Antiquarian Book Fair is widely regarded as the finest of its kind in the world. The event showcases nearly 200 professional, international antiquarian book dealers, and every genre of collectible paper is welcome here. Specialties at the East Coast fair include art, science, medicine, literature, history, gastronomy, fashion, first editions, Americana, philosophy, children's books and more. From the historical and academic to the religious and spiritual and, of course, the fictional, no category of antiquarian, collectible book is left out of this amazing fair.
The vendors at the New York Antiquarian Book Fair are enthusiastic about their passion and are happy to explain all about their items to anyone who attends this event. Each and every book brought to this market is checked for authenticity by experienced professionals, so buyers can shop here with the utmost confidence. This book fair is officially sanctioned by the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America, and they work hard to maintain the excellent reputation that this fair has earned over the years.
The New York Antiquarian Book Fair was first held in the 1960s and is now located in the center of the city on Park Avenue. The Armory's location is perfect for this fair. Reminiscent of the original Grand Central Depot and the great railroad depots of Europe, it is one of the largest unobstructed spaces of its kind in the city. The main exhibit hall is 55,000 square feet, and when 200 antiquarian book dealers move in and set up, the place is transformed into something between a historic gallery and a museum.
As you would expect from a museum, the New York Antiquarian Book Fair is a great place to learn about history. Visitors have the opportunity to browse through documents and books created centuries ago, as well as see prints and illustrations dating back to the 14th century. This event is certainly much more than your average book fair and is not to be missed.
