The Original Miami Beach Antique Show is a massive and well-respected art fair in the USA. It is held once a year, usually at the start of the year, and lasts for five days. During this time, around 700 dealers from 30 different countries exhibit their incredible antiques, creating a truly international event in Florida. The very best of the USA's own dealers are also guaranteed to attend, of course! With upwards of 50,000 guests estimated to peruse this event each year, it is no wonder that antique dealers want to book their spot on the floor and bring the very best of their wares.
The Miami Beach Convention Center is the perfect, grand setting for the Original Miami Beach Antique Show. From the outside, the building seems endless, and the main exhibition hall within does not disappoint. There is plenty of space for the hundreds of dealers to spread out and create enticing displays with their treasured pieces of art and antiques. This is an incredibly popular antique and art market, though thanks to this venue it never feels over-crowded and visitors always feel as though they have managed to have a good look at all the wonderful goods on offer.
It is worth noting that the fact that Sotheby's and Mercanteinfiera are partners in this event speaks volumes. Sotheby's needs no introduction of course: besides being one of the most renowned auction houses, it is also an online marketplace of choice among lovers of beautiful old things. Mercanteinfiera, on the other hand, is not necessarily known to the uninitiated: set in the exhibition center of Parma, in the north of Italy, Mercanteinfiera is the largest antique tradeshow in the country, and one of the most important in Europe. The fact that these two big names in the art world sponsor and participate in the Original Miami Beach Antique Show says a lot about the quality and seriousness of this show.
The Original Miami Beach Antique Show attracts a diverse crowd. Collectors, interior designers, art market professionals, and art lovers rub shoulders with more casual shoppers seeking that unique, special something. The kinds of things found at this fair include antique jewelry, watches, furniture, textiles, handbags, sculptures, glasswork, ceramic items, and much, much more. All art periods are represented including Georgian, Renaissance, Art Deco, and Victorian. Top names and brands always participate in this fair, such as Tiffany, Cartier, Patek Phillipe, and Rolex.
There is more to do at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show than simply shop for antiques. One day is dedicated to complementary appraisals, so members of the public can bring along their suspected valuables to learn more about them. Guided educational tours through the eras are held, and seminars take place regularly over the five days of the fair.
