The Somerville Flea Market is a fantastic outdoor market in Massachusetts that runs from June to October. One of its purposes, of course, is to showcase vintage and secondhand items for flea fans to browse and buy.
The Somerville Flea Market also has a strong community spirit and aims to bring together vendors, artists and musicians to connect them with Somerville and the surrounding communities. The atmosphere at this flea market is relaxed, friendly and encourages everyone to come back regularly and bring their friends!
Most of the vendors at the Somerville Flea Market sell vintage and antique goods that have been reclaimed, restored and repurposed. Some of the craftsmanship on display is absolutely superb and provides so much inspiration for anyone who has ever considered some form of reclaiming or restoration. Vendors are more than happy to chat with interested visitors, and new ideas are constantly being hatched at this flea market!
In addition to vintage and antique goods, the Somerville Flea Market also celebrates traditional methods of art, craft and design, and invites artists who carry on these traditions to display their skills and items for sale. As a result, the range of items for sale is tempting to everyone from collectors to casual browsers. There are vintage cameras, beautifully restored furniture, original artwork, new and antique housewares, vintage clothing, handbags, china, posters and toys. And, of course, all the sellers are happy to bargain!
Besides its vintage and antique vendors, the Somerville Flea Market also features a farmer's market, delicious snacks, and some of the area's top musicians performing live. Much more than just a flea market, the Somerville Flea Market is a true community event with food and entertainment, and is proud to be one. There is a parking lot within walking distance, but it is not large, so public transportation, biking, or carpooling is encouraged.
