The Chicago Show is quite an event in the antiques, art, and design calendar. It takes place just once in the year and as such, it is highly anticipated by those in the antiques and art communities. A real celebratory feeling of the arts is captured by this fair, helped by the fantastic opening night party, which offers cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, complimentary valet parking, and the opportunity for serious collectors to shop the show before it opens to the public.
More than 70 different dealers take part in the Chicago Show. Each dealer is extremely professional in their field and between them all a selection of art and antiques from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. 20th-century modern works are also introduced, as well as cutting-edge contemporary 21st-century designs. The layout of the exhibits in the hall of the plaza is immaculate and the building is transformed into a pristine museum for the time that this fair takes place. Each dealer is allowed plenty of space to spread their works out and this allows each wonderful piece to be highlighted in the displays.
Walking through the Chicago Show, it is hard to believe that all the incredible items are actually up for sale! Dealers come from both around the USA and overseas so a true variety of arts and antiques is guaranteed. It is a great opportunity for USA-based collectors to be able to see the collections of some famous international art houses and antique dealers. The organizers of the fair always include a mix of returning dealers and new faces, so visitors always have the chance to encounter some new dealers.
As well as the opening party, this show also features lectures and keynote speakers, so it offers so much more than the chance to buy some wonderful pieces. It takes place over a three-day weekend and an entrance ticket covers all three days.
