Named one of the best flea markets in America by the Huffington Post, the General's Market, formerly known as The General Stanton Inn Flea Market, is a popular Rhode Island flea market. With space for up to 80 vendors, this flea market can attract hundreds of visitors each day it is open for business. The General's Market only takes place during the summer months and every Sunday during that time. This allows for plenty of opportunity to browse through the available merchandise and get your hands on some amazing bargains and unique items.
Since its inception in 1965, the General's Market has consistently set the "gold standard" for outdoor flea markets in Rhode Island. It quickly became a local favorite and, over the years, gained a reputation in neighboring states and beyond. Today, it remains popular and shows no signs of slowing down. The Inn itself has been standing since 1667 (legend has it that George Washington stopped in for a drink or two) and provides a lovely backdrop for a flea market filled with treasures of yesteryear. They also offer overnight accommodations, which is perfect if you are exhausted from your day of shopping or if you want to arrive the day before to be ready to bargain by 8am.
Open throughout the spring and summer, the General's Market provides the perfect shopping opportunity for those cottage owners who prepare for the beach season each year. Those looking for that perfect, unique, conversation piece for their home will be spoiled for choice. The vendors are also full of upcycling ideas, and those looking for inspiration are guaranteed creative conversations. The items for sale often have stories behind them, and learning about them is one of the joys of flea markets.
The beautiful antiques and vintage items for sale at the General's Market sit alongside excellent renewable collectibles, homemade crafts, wonderful works of art and other wholesome products carefully curated by Field of Artisans. There are also food stalls with local and homemade products, providing much needed refreshment and allowing for more hours of shopping! Bring plenty of cash though, as there are no ATMs on site.

This Flea Market is especially treasured for its nautical antiques. In addition to “green” antiques, vintage, and renewable collector’s items, this flea market offers a welcoming environment with a country fair flair from late April through Columbus Day for the sale of small-batch edibles, current merchandise, homemade crafts, and art!
