For over 20 years, the Thorvaldsens Plads Antique Market (previously “Gammel Strand Antique Market”) has been Copenhagen’s favorite treasure hunt venue for antiques and collectibles, gathering a very selected group of quality antiques dealers every weekend throughout the summer.

Even though it is not a huge flea market, the Thorvaldsens Plads Antique Market attracts hundreds of visitors, partly because its beautiful surroundings. The market is located right in the heart of the old Copenhagen Quarter next to the Thorvaldsens museum and the Café Diamanten.

Merchants selling at the Thorvaldsens Plads Antikmarked showcase a huge selection of unique antiques. Everything between antiques curiosities, paintings, porcelain, silver, modern danish design, toys, jewellery, vintage fashion and vintage industrial. A true eldorado for professionals as well as private collectors, even if some merchandises turn out to be a bit pricey compared to other Loppemarked in Copenhagen.

The Thorvaldsens Plads Antique Market operates twice a week from beginning of May to end of October. The market features a wide selection of unique antiques, ranging from paintings, Royal Copenhagen porcelain, silver and antiques curiosities, to modern Danish design, toys, jewellery, vintage fashion and vintage industrial. It is a true eldorado for professionals as well as private collectors.

  1. Her er der serveret for turisterne, der bliver sluset ind fra krydstogtskibene. Udvalget er skræddersyet: kongeligt porcelæn, sølvtøj og krystal, smykker, gamle duge og legetøj. Ikke noget der får det til at gibbe i en gennemsnits Københavner, og slet ikke til prisen, der er helt oppe og kysse loftet. Jeg kommer der alligevel, for især på solskinsdagene er det hyggeligt at slentre igennem med en kop kaffe, og suge til sig af atmosfæren. Blot skal man abstrahere fra de til tider uforskammede sælgere, der tydeligvis ikke er der for at hygge sig. Det er det sure med det søde, her, men man vænner sig til det.
