Once a month, Pierce College in Woodland Hills gives over its grounds to something far removed from lectures and study halls. The Topanga Vintage Market takes over the campus on the fourth Sunday of every month, running from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm — or from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm during the summer months. It is one of the San Fernando Valley's most consistent vintage gatherings, drawing collectors and browsers from across the Los Angeles area to a site that feels genuinely suited to an outdoor market.
More than 170 vendors spread across the grounds, and the range is broad enough to satisfy several different kinds of collector in a single visit. Vintage clothing arrives in quantity — the kind of selection that rewards slow, methodical browsing rather than a quick pass. Furniture hunters will find shabby chic pieces and mid-century odds and ends. Musical instruments surface regularly, and costume jewelry tends to draw its own dedicated crowd early in the morning. Local artisans fill out the mix, adding handmade work alongside the antique and vintage stock.
The atmosphere leans relaxed and community-minded. Live music plays through the market hours, giving the whole event a Sunday-morning rhythm that suits its campus setting. Non-profit food stalls offer hot snacks and drinks at prices that feel more community fair than festival concession. Vendors here tend toward conversation — the kind of place where a piece of furniture comes with a story attached. Arriving early rewards both the serious collector and the casual visitor: the best finds go first, and the cooler morning air makes browsing genuinely comfortable before midday heat builds.
General admission runs $3, which keeps the barrier low for a full morning out. Children under 12 and veterans enter free. Parking on site is also free — a practical detail worth noting in a region where parking costs can quietly inflate the cost of a day out.
Getting there by public transport is straightforward for a market of this size. Bus line 164 stops at Victory/Mason (Pierce College), essentially at the market entrance — under 50 metres from the site. Bus 165 serves Vanowen/Mason approximately 600 metres away, offering a nearby alternative. Visitors travelling from further afield can reach Chatsworth station, served by the Pacific Surfliner and the Metrolink VC Line, around 7.4 km away; a local bus or ride-share covers the remaining distance. For most visitors, the free on-site parking makes driving the practical default.
The Topanga Vintage Market suits a specific kind of Sunday plan: a long, unhurried browse with room to negotiate, eat something cheap and good, and leave with something unexpected. Families, instrument collectors, furniture hunters and vintage clothing regulars all find their footing here. The Pierce College setting gives it space and an easy-going campus energy that distinguishes it from tighter, more urban market formats. It is the kind of event that builds a loyal return crowd — and that loyalty shows in the quality and consistency of the vendor lineup month after month.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When does the Topanga Vintage Market take place, and what are the hours?
A: The market runs on the fourth Sunday of every month. Standard hours are 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, shortening to 7:00 am to 1:30 pm during summer months. Check the organizer's official page before you go, as hours can vary seasonally.
Q: What kinds of things can I expect to find across the 170-plus vendors?
A: The mix covers vintage clothing, costume jewelry, shabby chic and mid-century furniture, musical instruments, quirky decorative objects, and work from local artisans. It is broad enough that serious collectors and casual browsers both find something worthwhile in a single visit.
Q: Is there an admission charge, and how much should I budget for parking and food?
A: General admission is $3. Children under 12 and veterans enter free. Parking on site is free, and food is served by non-profit stalls at affordable prices — so a full morning out can stay genuinely low-cost.
Q: When is the best time to arrive for the best finds?

13th June 2017 at 04:33Thanks for the excellent review of our vintage market! We do pride ourselves on our customer service, both for our sellers and shoppers. We appreciate the advice to arrive as early as you can due to heat in the summer, and to get the best pickins! We officially open at 8am, but we welcome early birds. The mornings are cool and the temperature forecast is usually not reached til about 2 pm, so that’s when we close in July, Aug and Sept when it gets into the 90s.
Hope to see you on the 4th Sunday soon!
