Walthamstow Flea Market
Walthamstow Flea Market is fairly new to the flea markets of London, UK. The first market took place in June 2021, in a collaborative effort between the Truman’s Social Club and Hackney Flea Market company, which has already made a name for itself on the London flea market scene with other events such as Hackney Flea Market, Peckham Salvage Yard, Hackney Record Fair, The Big London Flea, and Peckham Record Fair. The large building, located close to the district of Tottenham, always had great potential for events, and it turns out it is the perfect location for an incredible vintage and antique market!
With more than 60 vintage and antique vendors taking part, the Walthamstow Flea Market quickly placed itself on the map for collectors and lovers of all things vintage. Taking place on select Sundays throughout the year, it does not appear to have a rigid schedule as yet, so it is best to keep an eye on their website for the upcoming market dates. Unlike typical flea markets that kick off at the crack of dawn, this flea has a rather leisurely opening time of 11 am, so one can still indulge in a Sunday lie-in and still make it to this market as it opens.
The setting of the Walthamstow Flea Market, Truman’s Social Club, is the UK‘s biggest beer hall. Therefore, you can always expect this flea market to be accompanied by plenty of beer! Street food stalls also join the vintage vendors, so all in all this market feels more like a street fair than just a market. This lively, welcoming atmosphere is one of the reasons for the immediate popularity of this market.
Of course, the other reason for the popularity of the Walthamstow Flea Market is the awesome vintage and antique items that can be found here. Visitors will find vinyl records, board games, artwork, street signs, lamps, telephones, taxidermy, comics, cuddly toys, books, cameras, glassware, chinaware, vases, clocks, globes, carpets, and so much more. It is the perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
