For serious collectors throughout Europe, the Bustehrad collectors’ market has acquired a level of fame for being the market where the most sought-after collectible items can be found. Antique professionals and flea market enthusiasts from surrounding countries - and even further afield, travel twice a month to this market to see the new treasured goods on offer from the stallholders.
The town that hosts the renowned Bustehrad collectors’ market is tiny, with a resident population of just 3,000 people. The market was established back in 1979, when local collectors would get together to share and exchange their wares, and it has grown from strength to strength since then. The Bustehrad collectors’ market now has an exceptional reputation as the place to go as a serious collector or person with an interest in antiques and vintage goods.
The Bustehrad collectors’ market is located roughly 30 minutes outside of Prague. It is accessible via a combination of public transport (green metro line to Dejvicka, followed by a bus trip), though it is easy to drive there. The Bustehrad collectors’ market is absolutely worth the trip for any collectors, as the market showcases a variety of merchandises ranging from antique furniture and old paintings, to clocks, bronze, silverware, porcelain, coin and matchbook collections, wooden marionettes, glassware, war memorabilia, vintage household items, crockery and many more precious antique items.
Stallholders at Bustehrad collectors’ market are incredibly knowledgeable about their wares and the overall atmosphere at this antique market is professional but very friendly. Because of the expertise, and the reputation for the quality of the goods, things can get a little expensive, but the prices reflect the quality of the items sold and is well worth it. Bartering is welcomed, so it is still possible to score a great deal!
The earlier in the day, the better the chances of course, and with this market opening at 06:00 am, it will be a very early start for the most dedicated collectors. There is no doubt that the Bustehrad collectors’ market is worth the effort and a short night of sleep.

25th November 2017 at 20:19Went there with great expectations, but got really disappointed. As an experienced visitor to French and Belgium flea markets, it was hard to negotiate as the local dealer’s prices was sometimes twice as much as in France (in a country where you buy a beer for less than an euro). And the quality of the merchandise was not in any way great. Well, you clearly got the feeling that the prices were raised when you were not a local. Not worth the while, but the weekly Saturday flea market in Prague saved the trip. Much better in every way!
