Gurley Antiques Gallery is an antique mall that houses many different antique dealers under one roof. It is located in the heart of Scarborough, Maine, right on Coastal Route 1, in a prime location for passing traffic. The building itself is definitely eye-catching and looks like it could be someone's grand estate! This illusion continues as you walk through the front door and see all the fantastic items from yesteryear inside.
Opened in 2008 by Rachel Gurley, the mission of Gurley Antiques Gallery is to offer quality antiques from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. There are 36 antique dealers who come from all over New England; including Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. All of the dealers are seasoned professionals in the antique and collecting business and have an incredible knowledge between them of historical periods and the items that represent them. They are constantly acquiring new items, so there is always something new to see here. The latest additions to the store are highlighted on the gallery's website.
Thanks to the variety of dealers within Gurley Antiques Gallery, shoppers are also guaranteed a variety of quality vintage and antique items. On any given day, you can expect to find furniture, artwork, ceramics and glass, textiles, jewelry, nautical items, medical equipment, photographic equipment, bronze sculptures, clocks, decorative pieces, and more.
Gurley Antiques Gallery offers a number of services in addition to the sale of valuable items. They have auction services for either single items or entire estates. They are able to liquidate estates, whatever the reason for your move. With so many professionals in the house, they can also appraise any antiques that are brought into the store. If you are looking for a specific antique, share your search with this store as they are often able to help and may already know where it can be found!
In addition to the physical store, Gurley Antiques Gallery is also responsible for the Gurley Antique Shows, a collection of flea, antique and vintage markets that take place throughout Maine and New Hampshire. One of these is the Bath Antique Sale, a tradition in the state since the 80's, held sporadically from fall through spring. The Deerfield Antique Show is another long-standing market that has been held since the 90s, with more than 85 different dealers setting up their booths. A Thanksgiving tradition is the Antique Show and Sale, usually held at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Maine. This one-day event is always highly anticipated and features 75 independent exhibitors.
