On a stretch of green ground along Willow Street in Reinholds, Lancaster County, a serious antique market has been running since 1962. Shupp's Grove is not a general flea market. The vendors here deal in genuine antiques and vintage goods, and that focus shapes everything about the experience — who sells, what turns up, and how conversations tend to go.
The merchandise floor rewards patient, knowledgeable shoppers. Early American primitives and period furniture draw collectors who know what they're hunting. Elsewhere across the stalls, vintage advertising pieces, estate jewellery, and decorative antiques surface regularly. Pricing reflects the calibre of the stock, and some dealers price with confidence. The range across the market is wide enough that a full walk before buying still pays off.
Many vendors have traded at Shupp's Grove for years. That long-term seller community produces something a newer market can rarely replicate: dealers who know their stock deeply and are willing to talk about it. A question about a maker's mark or a period style often opens into a longer exchange. That kind of knowledge on the floor is part of what gives Shupp's Grove its standing as a picker's market — a place where informed buyers find real depth.
The market opens Saturday and Sunday from 07:00 to 16:00, running from the third weekend in May through the end of September. Arriving early matters here. The picker's market reputation means the best finds move quickly, and a 07:00 start is worth taking seriously. Twice a year, in June and September, Extravaganza weekends bring extra vendors and attract buyers who travel specifically for the occasion. Even on ordinary weekends, the scale and consistency of the market make the drive worthwhile.
The setting is spacious and green, which separates Shupp's Grove from the indoor antique fairs common elsewhere in the region. There is room to move comfortably between stalls, and the open-air environment gives the whole day a different pace. As an outdoor market, weather-appropriate preparation is sensible — a light layer and a bag that keeps finds dry cover most conditions through the season.
Lancaster County has a deep antique-trade culture, and Shupp's Grove sits at its centre. The surrounding area carries a similar character, making Reinholds a worthwhile destination for a dedicated buying day rather than a single-stop visit.
The nearest rail-served hub is Lancaster city, approximately 28 km away. This market sits in rural Lancaster County and is effectively car-dependent. There is no local public transport connection to the site itself, and driving remains the practical way to reach 607 Willow Street. Visitors travelling from further afield can use Lancaster as a regional base and drive out. Plan for a full morning at minimum — the market runs until 16:00, and the site rewards a methodical pass.
Shupp's Grove suits dedicated collectors and experienced pickers who want a Pennsylvania antique market with genuine depth, long-established vendors, and a seasonal calendar worth returning to year after year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is Shupp's Grove a general flea market or a dedicated antique market?
A: Shupp's Grove is a dedicated antique and vintage market. Vendors here deal in genuine antiques rather than general secondhand goods, with particular depth in early American primitives, period furniture, vintage advertising, estate jewellery, and decorative objects. That specialization is the reason serious collectors make the trip.
Q: When does the market run, and what are the hours?
A: The market runs weekends — Saturday and Sunday, 07:00 to 16:00 — from the third weekend in May through the end of September. Arriving at opening is worthwhile; at a market with this seller profile, strong pieces move early in the day.
Q: What are the Extravaganza weekends?
A: Twice a year, in June and September, Shupp's Grove holds Extravaganza weekends that bring additional vendors and draw buyers from well outside the region. These are the highest-volume weekends of the season. Check the market's official page before planning a trip around a specific Extravaganza date.
Q: Is the market accessible without a car?
A: Shupp's Grove sits in rural Lancaster County at 607 Willow Street in Reinholds, and driving is the practical way to get there. The nearest rail-connected hub is Lancaster city, roughly 28 km away, but there is no local public transport link to the market itself.
Q: What should I bring for a day at Shupp's Grove?
A: As an outdoor market with a spacious, green layout, conditions can shift through the season. A weather-appropriate layer, comfortable shoes for walking the full site, and a bag that keeps purchases dry are sensible basics. Walking the entire market before buying is worth the time — the range of stock and pricing across stalls rewards a full look before you commit.

16th May 2019 at 09:55Great place for bargains and to meet people. Every time we are in the area we spend a few laid back hours at the Shupp’s Grove Antique Market, usually on Saturday. Even if you are not looking for something specific I guarantee you’ll find something you like. Plan a few hours of your day to get around to everything. The food court offers a tasty variety of foods including delicious breakfast and various coffees. The grounds are clean and well kept.

22nd June 2020 at 20:31Very untrustworthy owners and managers existed shops Grove. Several experiences that were totally unacceptable for anyone occurred here for me over the years. I advised others to please report any experiences that you have had that show what kind of people these are. It’s not just my opinion it’s what I had to go through in it.
