Situated opposite the village hall in Storrington, UK is Stable Antiques. This fantastic antique shop is run by a couple with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the world of vintage and antique collectibles. The building itself is over 200 years old and, as the name suggests, used to be the village stables. It is a Grade II listed building and is now home to over 30 different independent antique dealers. Spread over two floors, the dealers and owners create a wonderful shopping experience for collectors and casual shoppers alike.
Inside Stable Antiques you can still see the original cobbled floors, stalls, and cribs. In the central courtyard is a covered well, which would have been the main water supply for the building. It is such a treat to be able to enjoy these incredible features while browsing through equally historic items with rich histories. From the outside, the building blends in with the street and you would never know it was home to so many antique dealers. It is really great that the original appearance of this building and others around it has been preserved.
The owners of Stable Antiques have been in business since the early 90s. It has been successful from the start and they put this down to the reasonable prices they keep and the high turnover of stock. This means that there is always something new to see here, no matter how regularly you shop! Visitors can usually expect to find Victorian-era items, silverware, jewelry, clocks, copperware, brassware, old books, collectible toys, military memorabilia, musical instruments, lamps, tools, garden statues, and much more.
Outside in Stable Antiques' courtyard garden, you will find a variety of unusual trees, shrubs, and perennials. There is also a selection of planters, garden ornaments, and garden tools. Whether you are looking for a collector's item, a useful household item, or a unique gift for someone special, this place has it all!
