Since 2017, the Vintage Redefined Market has been lighting up the vintage and collecting scene in Calgary with a two-day event taking place a couple of times each year. With this being such a new market in town, its reputation is still growing though it quickly sealed itself as a welcoming, family-friendly event that is a pleasure to spend the day at, whether you are seriously into retro stylings or not!
The two-day format of the Vintage Redefined Market is rather unique in the world of such events. Rather than a typical Saturday Sunday affair, the first day of this market weekend is Friday, and it is a night market! Kicking off at 4 pm and running until 9 pm (or sometimes a little later), this timing creates a different vibe to the normal first day of a weekend market, where bargain hunters arrive with the dawn and rummage through collections before they are fully formed on the tabletops. At the Vintage Redefined Market, the first visitors arrive ready to grab a snack and socialize with the community.
All that said, this does not mean that the Vintage Redefined Market is not a place for those with a deep appreciation of all things vintage and antique. There is plenty here for collectors and bargain hunting is still an important pastime at these events! One of the best features of Vintage Redefined Market is the diversity of vendors spread over the 25000 square feet of the exhibition area. Dolls and other collectible toys can be picked up here, alongside, McDonald’s memorabilia, artwork, oil cans, religious items, medical equipment, militaria, comics, pocket watches, teapots, lamps and other furniture items, clocks, cash registers and so much more.
The Vintage Redefined Market looks like it will be a staple in the community of Calgary for many years to come. The events to date have been incredibly popular and successful for both shoppers and vendors alike. Keep an eye on their website for upcoming dates and be sure to mark it in the diary.
