Since 2017, the Vintage Redefined Market has been lighting up Calgary's vintage and collectibles scene with a two-day event that takes place a few times a year. Being such a new market to the city, its reputation is still growing, though it has quickly sealed itself as a welcoming, family-friendly event that is a joy to spend a day at, whether you're seriously into retro styling or not!
The two-day format of the Vintage Redefined Market is rather unique in the world of such events. Instead of a typical Saturday-Sunday affair, the first day of this weekend market is Friday, and it is a night market! Starting at 4 p.m. and running until 9 p.m. (or sometimes a little later), this timing creates a different vibe than the normal first day of a weekend market, where bargain hunters arrive at dawn and rummage through collections before they are fully formed on tabletops. At the Vintage Redefined Market, the first visitors arrive ready to grab a snack and mingle with the community.
That is not to say that the Vintage Redefined Market is not a place for those with a deep appreciation for all things vintage and antique. There is plenty for collectors here, and bargain hunting is still an important pastime at these events! One of the best features of the Vintage Redefined Market is the variety of vendors spread across 25,000 square feet of exhibit space. Dolls and other collectible toys can be found alongside McDonald's memorabilia, artwork, oil cans, religious items, medical equipment, militaria, comic books, pocket watches, teapots, lamps and other furniture, clocks, cash registers, and much more.
The Vintage Redefined Market looks like it will be a staple in the Calgary community for many years to come. Past events have been incredibly popular and successful for both shoppers and vendors alike. Keep an eye on their website for upcoming dates and mark your calendars.
