Alcocer Anticuarios is a family business with an incredible history. Founded in 1870 by Santiago Alcocer, the Madrid gallery is currently run by fourth-generation antiquarian Gema Alcocer, who has an international background, having worked for antique dealers in London and Milan. Her husband, Peter Field Peck, also works in the Spanish shop, while her sister represents Alcocer in the United States with a collection of pieces in Boston. There is no doubt that this is a family with antiques in their blood!
Alcocer Anticuarios offers a very diverse collection of 18th and 19th century European furniture, paintings, ceramics, chandeliers, sculptures, Asian arts, mirrors and decorative objects. The store also specializes in a few areas, with an extensive collection of 18th century English and French clocks and a large selection of high quality Spanish silverware. This is obviously a store that collectors will want to have on their list of places to visit, and even the most casual shopper will be amazed at the beautiful items here that will fit into any home.
Walking into Alcocer Anticuarios is like entering a combination art gallery and museum. It is located in an area of Madrid known for its art, so it is indeed a treat to walk into this store and realize that everything on display is also for sale! With such a long history, this shop is incredibly well respected in the Madrid antique community and has now gained a reputation overseas. Many of the items curated by this shop have appeared in the collections of various museums, which speaks to the quality of the items found here.
In addition to the store itself, Alcocer Anticuarios has an extensive website and is able to take orders and ship internationally. This means that there is no need to miss out on the fantastic antiques available here!
