Florence is full of surprises, with something new to discover around every corner and something exciting to find at every market. The monthly Mercato di Santo Spirito offers trinkets and treasures from days gone by, as well as amazing food and refreshments. This vintage market is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike and is not to be missed.
The Mercato di Santo Spirito is a quintessentially Italian affair in that it is free of the frantic browsers and desperate collectors you might find at the Piazza dei Ciompi Flea Market, who usually arrive at the crack of dawn to get first dibs on the wares.
The Mercato di Santo Spirito, on the other hand, is more relaxed, and it seems that many locals are here just to hang out and enjoy the day. This is not to say that there are not wonderful goods on offer for those who wish to shop. With its rich, artistic history and culture, the treasures to be found at the flea markets in Florence are certainly worth the search.
At the Mercato di Santo Spirito you can find some fantastic items: art deco lamps, vintage clothing, textiles and carpets, clocks, old radios and telephones, prints, artwork, table sculptures and other ornaments, silverware, porcelain, toys and much more. There is always a great selection of merchandise that changes regularly, so you can visit as often as you like and find something new each time.
Many of the vendors at the Mercato di Santo Spirito are regulars who set up shop every time the market is open. They are therefore quite familiar with each other and clearly enjoy the company and banter that comes with being a regular vendor. Everyone here is really friendly and eager to engage in a little chit-chat. Vendors are also happy to talk about their wares and haggle over prices, so there are great deals to be had as long as you bring cash.

9th October 2022 at 08:11The Mercato Piazza Santo Spirito usually takes place on the 2nd Sunday of the month except July and August, from 09:00 to 19:00. But as is the case with many antique markets and flea markets in Italy, the opening dates are not always strictly observed. It is generally recommended to contact the organizers or the social media profile of the event before visiting.
