Urban Industrial
From the outside, it is not entirely clear what a vast treasure trove Urban Industrial actually is. It is located just off of Holzmarktstrasse next to the river Spree in Berlin, Germany, so it is easy enough to find. Those just casually walking or driving by may not be tempted to pop into this store, but those in the know are certainly in for a treat.
Urban Industrial is a studio focused on antique furniture and interior design. The ethos and passion behind this store are one of reclamation. Wherever possible, items are carefully and expertly restored, and it brings no end of satisfaction to the owners to see would-be junk given a new lease of life. Architectural salvage is one of the main favorites to pillage in order to find incredible stock for the store. The preservation of heritage items is most important to the owners and for visitors, it is a joy to behold and perhaps be able to take away some of their work.
The showroom of Urban Industrial spans over 800 meters squared. It is full of reclaimed items sourced from all over Europe and further afield. The owners recognize the skill and resources required to craft furniture and other objects, and this value calls for them to be re-conditioned and cleverly re-used. There is a workshop on-site where staff carries out the restoration projects. This makes Urban Industrial a great place to visit for anyone who might want a little helping hand with restoration ideas themselves!
Items found in Urban Industrial are perfect for residential, commercial, and theatrical spaces, and many of the items are available to rent as well as buy. New items are constantly coming into the store, so you never know what you might find within. Past stock includes boxing equipment including speedballs and gloves, tables and chairs, lighting fixtures and lamps, cabinets, signage, paintings, mirrors, vases, curios, and so much more.
